MENTAL HEALTH DAY TREATMENT

MENTAL HEALTH Day Treatment

The mental health day treatment program is offered as a step-down from residential treatment. New patients may admit directly to day treatment if they are coming from a residential or day treatment program, or if they have been participating in less intensive outpatient therapy unsuccessfully.

Mental health day treatment with structured daily schedules

Day Treatment clients come to our campus from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each weekday for psychiatric services and therapy sessions. While multiple groups are offered each hour, counselors work with each mental health day treatment client to develop an individualized schedule based on the client's diagnoses, as well as identified opportunities for growth and skill building.

SCHOOL DAY TREATMENTs

PRESCHOOL DAY TREATMENT AND SCHOOL AGE DAY TREATMENT PROGRAMS (Age 3-12)

The preschool and school-age day treatment programs (SADT) are intensive, highly structured, school-based treatment programs. The program uses a holistic approach to developing the social, emotional, and educational needs of the children through a nurturing and supportive environment.

                Services Offered:

  • Education: Our program provides an academic program that follows Georgia State curriculum guidelines and is individualized to the learning needs of the child.
  • Summer Program: All children are required to attend our 6-week summer session which continues our academic program with additional field trips and other special events.
  • Mental Health Services: Each child receives both individual and group therapy once a week during the school day. In addition, the child’s therapist provides the family with family therapy and/or parent counseling on a regular basis.
  • Psychiatry Services: The psychiatrist is available two days a week to provide evaluation and prescribe medication when indicated.
  • Nursing Services: Our nurse works closely with the psychiatrist and therapists to address the medical needs of the children in the program.
  • Occupational therapy: Our program accommodates occupational therapy when it is included in the child’s IEP.
  • Speech therapy: Our program has a speech therapist on staff to provide both assessment and therapy services to children for whom it is indicated.
  • Behavioral Support: Our program employs three full-time behavioral support counselors whose primary task is to help de-escalate children who are upset and provide support so that the child can return to the program as quickly as possible.
SEXUAL ABUSE DAY TREATMENT

SEXUAL ABUSE TRAUMA: DAY TREATMENT & OUTPATIENT PROGRAMS

  • Residential Treatment Facility provides patients with a safe environment for recovering from a sexual addiction. These types of facilities allow patients to work with counselors and therapists in a quiet environment, eliminating any potential distractions. Residential treatment facilities offer a variety of different therapies, including group and individual sessions, as well as educational classes and recreational activities. This type of treatment may last up to six weeks.

  • An Intensive Outpatient Program suits sex addicts who can’t afford the expense of a residential program. Outpatient Programs typically last two to four weeks and provide a curriculum of therapy sessions and classes that allow the patient to eliminate the obsessive sexual behavior. A typical schedule is five days each week for up to eight hours per day.  An outpatient center for sexual addiction allows a patient to attend sessions as recommended for his particular treatment program. An outpatient center also offers various therapies such as 12-step meetings and family counseling.

  • Counseling or Therapy Sessions for sex addicts are typically conducted by a trained therapist, such as a psychiatrist or psychologist, or a certified sex addiction therapist. Counseling sessions are often best for patients who don’t want group therapy. This type of counseling is often available as part of the aftercare program for a residential treatment center.

  • A 12-step Group for sex addicts is modeled after the original 12-step program used to treat alcoholism, although it tailored to sexual addiction. Sex Addicts Anonymous is free, and while each group may have a distinct philosophy on sexual addiction, meetings are open to any sex addict who wishes to stop his compulsive sexual behavior.

***These addiction recovery programs are based on face-to-face meetings, although additional communication methods are also available, including online chat and telephone meetings
